Cybernomics proud to host Roots Canada Ltd. since 2002

Cybernomics, an IT company based in Toronto, announced recently that it has supported online initiatives for Roots Canada during the last three Olympic Games: in the Winter of 2002, the Summer of 2004 and the Winter of 2006. Cybernomics’ contribution included hosting Roots’ website, as well as providing image serving, e-mail direct marketing and specialised e-marketing tools.

Roots required extra bandwidth to facilitate website access by the large amounts of users that attended the site every day. Daily traffic for the site increased to five times the average during the 2006 Games. “We needed an IT company with hosting abilities that could support a huge spike in demand on our servers during the Olympics, while providing a cost effective solution that supports our day to day operations. Cybernomics was able to respond quickly to our needs and was able to adapt and respond as our requirements changed,” attests James Connell, Director of New Media and E-Commerce at Roots.

As Jean-Jerome Baudry, CEO and Founder of Cybernomics, explains, “It was a significant challenge for us because how we handled the 2002 Olympics would set the stage for the future of the company.” He pauses. “We had the Roots website transferred to our servers and up and running in 4 hours.”

Both companies stress their satisfaction in the four-year long relationship as well as their pleasure of having the opportunity, as two established Canadian companies, to work together during such a significant event as the Olympics.

“It takes courage to go with a small Canadian company, especially when you’re a global corporation like Roots and have many IT companies vying for your attention,” Mr. Baudry explains. “In turn, we’re honoured to work with a retailer that remains proudly Canadian. It’s a great experience when two Canadian companies can come together against the backdrop of such an important world event as the Olympics.”

Mr. Connell continues, “Cybernomics has been hosting our website since 2002 and our experience with them has been consistently positive.
